This is a textbook for beginners covering a wide range of topics. So wide, in fact, that even listing them all is quite difficult, so we could not do so in a short preface.
The aim of this publication is to create a general course for those who would like to progress steadily, comfortably and easily. It is naive to think that everything about Baduk can fit into even several volumes. Some important aspects of the game therefore had to be presented very briefly.
This series is planned to comprise 10 volumes. It is intended for players from 20 kyu to 1 dan. This book is the first volume and consists of four chapters.
The first chapter examines eight basic poseok (fuseki) positions, enabling you to play the opening skillfully using moves on hoshi points. This chapter introduces two innovations. One is the natural sequence of jeongseok (joseki) and haengma (shapes), and the other is a modern technique for using pincers. Chapter 2 describes a simple way to use 9 stones in handicap games for attack and defense. Chapter 3 provides the foundations for studying life and death. To describe calculation methods for solving life and death problems in detail, the discussion here is limited to three shapes. Chapter 4 covers the endgame: counting the size of territories and calculating the value of yose moves.
This book is an excellent supplement to the textbook “The Fundamentals of Go” by A. Bogatsky, vol. 2
